The birth of SR9009 can be traced back to the early 2010s when it was developed by a research team at the Scripps Research Institute. SR9009 was originally synthesized as part of a series of compounds designed to study the regulation of circadian rhythms. The compound targets Rev-Erbα, a nuclear receptor involved in regulating the body’s internal clock, lipid and glucose metabolism, and inflammatory responses.

STENABOLIC SR-9009

SR9009 (also known as Stenabolic) has been studied in mice and shown to increase walking speed, reduce obesity levels, and stimulate the production of mitochondria. This can improve muscle mass and metabolism.
Although SR-9009 is often associated with selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs), it works through multiple pathways. It is actually a Rev-ErbA agonist - a nuclear receptor reverse erythrocytosis oncogene product alpha agonist - found in the liver, skeletal muscle, and brain. It is best known for its role in influencing circadian rhythms.

SR-9009 and Weight Loss

In a study conducted by Solt et al., mice received twice-daily injections of SR-9009 or saline while being fed a high-fat diet (composed of 60% fat and 20% carbohydrates). The goal of the study was to evaluate whether SR-9009 could help reduce body weight in humans with diet-induced obesity (source)
The results showed that both groups of mice lost body fat due to the stress of the twice-daily injections. However, mice treated with SR-9009 lost 60% more fat than mice treated with saline injections. In addition, mice treated with SR-9009 had significant reductions in plasma triglycerides (12%), total cholesterol (47%), blood glucose levels (19%), leptin (80%), and inflammatory cytokines (72%) (source).

Chemical Structure:

From a chemical point of view, the molecular structure of SR9009 consists of a pyrrolidine backbone with a carboxylic acid ethyl ester group at one end and a complex chlorobenzyl-nitrothiophene-methylamine moiety at the other end. This chemical structure is very unique and has nothing to do with steroids or traditional small molecule drugs.
