Estradiol valerate (EV) is an estrogen medication. For women, it is used as hormone therapy to treat menopausal symptoms and low estrogen levels, hormone therapy for transgender women, and hormonal contraception. It is also used to treat prostate cancer in men. The medication is taken orally or injected into muscle or fat every 1 to 4 weeks.

Estradiol valerate is a female hormone (estrogen). It is used to relieve menopausal symptoms, including vaginal dryness, hot flashes, and more. Menopausal symptoms occur because the body produces less estrogen; with EV, these symptoms are minimized. This medication can also help women with ovarian failure, hypogonadism, and women to produce enough estrogen, and men can also use it to treat prostate cancer (for palliative purposes only).

Indications
Estradiol valerate is marketed as an intramuscular injection under the trade name Delestrogen for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms and vulvovaginal atrophy associated with menopause, for the treatment of estrogen deficiency due to hypogonadism, castration, or primary ovarian failure, and for the treatment of advanced androgen-dependent prostate cancer (for palliative treatment only). Estradiol valerate is also used in combination with dienogest under the trade name Natazia for the prevention of pregnancy and the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding.
